Student Exchange Experience
Anggung Gigih Mutawadhi
When I went to Bursa Malaysia, I got something new about the mechanism of trading CPO (Crude Palm Oil). Because as we know, Malaysia is one of the biggest country that produce CPO. I was very interesting about this one, because I was imaging someday Indonesia can do the same way about this mechanism. As we know Indonesia has lot of commodities. The other activities that I took is technical analysis class. This class taught about how to use technical analysis for making decision for investment stock or commodities. It is very helpful for trader or investor before deciding decision. And the last one activities is Model United Nation, Model United Nation is a activities that require us to become delegates from some country. From this activities, I learn how to solve the problem provided based on some countries perspective.

From this program there are many benefits that I get such as knowledge, experience and relationships. In terms of my knowledge, I got the first knowledge from the courses I took on campus, besides that, I was also able to find out general knowledge that I had not known from life in Thailand. From simple things to very foreign things. for example, how the KKBS accommodates their students using campus buses without being charged. This is one of the advantages of KKBS compared to universities in Indonesia.

Many experiences that I got from this program, I met many new friends both Indonesian and Malaysian. We feel like a family right now. Personally, this program has increased my confidence in writing and speaking in English. Before joining this program, I feel like afraid and not confidence when speak and write a word or sentences in English but, now that matter no longer comes to me. In general, this program trained me directly or indirectly to become a person who more confidence, easy going to the people from abroad, increasing my communication skills, and give me a lot of lessons and experiences.

Joining student exchange program gives me so much experiences and lessons to be taken. I met friends that have different languages, homes, and countries with me. The parts that I like when I was conducting this program are, I can explore everything that I want learn, I can share something useful with friends who have different background and thought with me, improve my skills, and also motivate me to keep working in something that I like as long as it’s positive and can be beneficial to others.

The benefits that I get are very much starting from the knowledge that I did not get at UMY, then the different campus life from UMY, here I became very independent with a makeshift life without personal transportation. Then I got many friends from various countries who were very good. I also got very many different experiences when I was far away across the country. I also got a variety of experiences when taking care of everything alone without the help of parents. The benefit that I got is that I can manage my time even better.

The benefit that I can take here is that my way of thinking is more honed, emphasizing criticality in thinking and opinion. Will be very embarrassed if you attend an event but come late, very embarrassed if you are unable to answer the questions asked by the lecturer. What I like here is that the lecturers do not demand perfection of their students, they really appreciate people who are honest, friendly and willing to try.

I was put into a “Finance” department at NCU, the OIA will decide it for you. This department were different with accounting even it’s almost same. If you are from economic faculty, in NCU you will be put into maybe economic department, finance department or business administration department.
