Faculty of Law and FEB UMY Cooperate with Cheng Kung University
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is one of Indonesian Higher Education that has “Young and Worldwide” tagline. UMY cooperate with educational institution in national and international level as the commitment to realize the purpose as World Class University. This time, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics and Business UMY has assigned the MoU (Memorandum of Agreement) with College of Social Sciences National Cheng Kung University Taiwan on Tuesday (8/8) at director’s court room Postgraduate Program UMY.
Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. as the Rector of UMY said that this cooperation can strengthen all academic aspects between the Faculties or Study Programs. “This cooperation is the continuity after UMY has assigned the memorandum of understanding of National Cheng Kung University Taiwan on 25th of July. Then, it is a great momentum for UMY to cooperate again with College Of Social Sciences NCKU Taiwan. Therefore, I hope that this cooperation can improve the quality of both university.” Gunawan, said.
Refers to MoU that have been assigned by both parties, the purpose of the cooperation is to promote global knowledge, education collaboration, broaden cultural interaction and friendship through students activities in faculty of each institutions. Hopefully, this cooperation can build and develop the relationship between UMY and NCKU Taiwan.
The MoU was also discussed the specification of cooperation activities. Those activities are students and or lecturers exchange, joint research, participation in seminar and academics conference, academic material exchange and the other information, and short term academic program. The requirements has the specific criteria. For the example in lecturers exchange, the lecturers should have the agreement and assignment form faculty leaders, and consider the teaching responsibility and the others. The academic assignment also need the administration approval from each university. Then, this cooperation agreed to do the lectures, students, and researcher exchange for maximum 10 students, 2 lectures and 2 researchers for every semester.
Besides, Vice Rector for Academic and student Affairs NCKU Prof. Dr. Chin Fu Hung said that both universities have a lot of similarities in education improvement. “UMY and NCKU are one of leading university in each country, and Asia. So, both of universities can promote the excellence in Higher Education quality each other. Therefore, I hope we can continue this cooperation and strengthen the cooperation of both universities or faculties comprehensively and we can collaborate in every division.” Said Chin.
